My cousin finished 12th!
April 11th, 2005. Published under Life, Sports. No Comments.
I mentioned in a previous entry that my cousin was competing in the halfpipe competition at the Telus World Ski & Snowboard festival. Well in case anyone was interested, he finished 12th!!
Very proud of him, that was some pretty steep competition and it looks like he did great. He’s travelling back home today so I haven’t had a chance to congratulate him in person and get the scoop, but we are definitely incredibly proud of him. He has made some great progress this year with his snowboarding and has gotten some good sponsorship so we are pulling for him to be able to do this for a living!

Is anyone who reads this blog going to the Telus World Ski & Snowboard Festival in Whistler this weekend? My cousin is competing in the halfpipe competition there this weekend, so if you’re going let me know so I can tell you who he is so you can cheer him on!
I guarantee he’ll be surprised by random computer geeks cheering for him ;)

Played another couple of poker tournaments last night
March 4th, 2005. Published under Life. No Comments.
Tried out another poker tournament after I managed to finish 66th the other night. Unfortunately I did a lot worse this time around finishing like 200th out of 350. I didn’t play as well and made some bad call decisions including my all-in call. I had a decent hand, but I should have recognized that the other guy had a killer hand by how he played. In retrospect he was pretty obvious, I was just dumb.
Then I played a one table tournament thing which was pretty cool: 10 people at the table and I finished 4th. Again I went out on an all-in when I thought I had it wrapped up. I had a full house aces over tens, but so did the other guy and when the river card came up a third ten that gave my opponent four of a kind and knocked me out. I can’t beat myself up on that one, with aces over tens I had to go for it, but I think I should have waited for the river card to make that decision.
So far poker’s been a lot of fun and I am glad these sites like Party Poker allow you to play with fake money. I’m not really looking to start loosing money at poker ;)

Just played my second poker tournament
March 2nd, 2005. Published under Life. No Comments.
I just played my second poker tournament online at Party Poker and managed to finish 66th out of 319 people, I was down to 125 chips and had to make a play. Unfortunately if I had hung on another 26 people I would have won some money.
Was fun anyway, need to practice more!

Some pictures from the Toronto Car Show 2005

Here are some pictures that I took at the Toronto Car Show tonight.
Some good stuff there this year, more concept type cars than the last time I was there 2 years ago when there were no concepts at all.
